Description:
Ms. Hamilton brings both confident, tough intelligence and reasoned compassion into any negotiation or courtroom.Leanne Hamilton has been litigating family law, criminal, and civil cases in Colorado since graduating New York University and then the University of Colorado Law School. At Colorado Law, she was awarded a prestigious Editor position on the University of Colorado Law Review, represented indigent clients in family law cases at the school's Civil Practice Clinic, and interned in Denver for both a state judge and a top wills and estate planning law firm. Ms. Hamilton practices in domestic, criminal, and civil courtrooms, although her primary focus is family law. She is a tough negotiator with prosecutors, using weaknesses in their case along with mitigating factors to get the best deal for her criminal defense clients. In delicate matters of family law, although she can be tough when the time calls for it, she works to act as a force of calm mediation and reasoned counsel for her clients. Most people attempt to work through the process of divorce and custody disputes amicably, but have difficulty doing so as tensions rise concerning finances, property, and the welfare of the children. Ms. Hamilton works to avoid such hurtful conflicts by creating agreements that are fair to both parties and helping work through extremely delicate matters with compassion as well as legal skill.Ms. Hamilton regularly advises and counsels clients, negotiates confidential or court-ordered settlements, and, when necessary, fights aggressively for them in litigation. She recently has been lead or sole counsel on a wide range of cases: defending individuals in court against criminal prosecutions for felony theft, for driving under the influence, and for other crimes; representing individuals in family law matters ranging from marriage dissolutions and parenting time agreements to post-divorce issues such as child support modifications; and counseling terminated employees about their legal options and their rights under non-competition and severance agreements. She previously worked on major investment fraud and legal malpractice cases in New York courts.
