He holds Bachelors in Business Administration and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of Michigan. He is a certified specialist in Family Law from the State Bar of California. He began his private practice of law in Chula Vista, California in 1970. Between 1972 and 1982 he was a partner in several local law firms. In 1982, Mr. Bowman set up a solo law practice specializing in family law, probate and estate planning. Over the years he has been active in the South Bay Bar. Associat ion (past president), Chula Vista Kiwanis Club (past president) and Eastlake Community Church. Mr. Bowman is a former Judge Pro Tem, Family Law. He and his wife, Judith, have four adult children and five grandchildren.
