Description:
Helping Families Adapt to Change ...And Explore Possibilities Welcome to Eastside Mediation & Mental Health. I’m Darcia Tudor, and I’m a Mediatior, Therapist, and Parent Evaluation . As a therapist and lawyer, I provide mediation services in family disputes, which includes, parenting plans, child support, separation and divorce for couples who want to peacefully end their relationship in an affordable, manner with an experienced professional. I assist couples from beginning to end, in navigating the court system, and formalizing their agreements. My dual background in both clinical psychology and law gives me a unique perspective that few mediators can claim. As a therapist, I work with children, adolescents, and adults trying to cope with transitions relating to loss of family cohesion, blended families, and attachment issues in adoption and foster families. For those interested in a collaborative divorce, I am a member of the Washington state and King county collaborative associations. I serve families in this are as a divorce coach, child specialist, and mediator. The 20 years I spent as a divorce attorney helped me to recognize that families need much more than a good lawyer in times of challenge and crises. Families need low-cost legal options, like mediation, advocacy and collaborative negotiation, to amicably and fairly resolve their issuesand in a manner that won’t strain them financially. And while a divorce may legally resolve spousal disputes, it provides no emotional support to help either the separating couple or the children. I give families a place to address their feelings to adapt to transitions while supporting the emotional and developmental needs of the children. Dealing with divorce or another unexpected major life event is an emotionally distressing experience. When I work with my clients, whether as a mediator, therapist or parent evaluator, I take their issues to heart and truly care about what happens to them. My goal is to help families minimize the psychological distress and financial strain of these events, while helping them adapt to the changes they’re experiencing.I work with all family members throughout the many stages of life from at-risk children to families dissolving due to divorce or marrying couples blending into new families, to elderly parents needing intervention in coming to terms with their loss of independence.
